Innocence & Instinct (CD/DVD)
By Red
see relatedI am as close to becoming a vegetarian as ever. I just witnessed the beheading of a goat (on tv). Inspired, I sat near the laptop wondering if I should type out my disgust and let the tips of my fingers work out this recurring idea I cannot stop being interested in. Maybe the glow of the screen will get me out of the mood to become [spacebar] meatless.
I love animals. I especially love dogs though I do not currently own one. I am renting a cat who fancies me only because I give him food and pay for the electricity that comes through the outlet and heats his heating pad. As few times as possible I provide food for at least three other cats who do not belong to me. I do not wish to do this but it happens when my cat doesn't eat all of his food. I have only once been moved by the sadness of one of the other cats. It was cold, I was in a wierd mood. I don't want to talk about it.
My appreciation for animals has never gotten in the way of eating them. To be clear, I would never shoot a deer. I have only enjoyed deer meat once but even if it were something I loved I would never shoot a deer. It has never bothered me to eat beef or pork, though if I thought about it long enough I can see myself wanting to reconcile the dreadful horror that occurs between the chuckle of a pig and enjoying a half slab of ribs.
So, if I ever gave vegetarian a try it would not be because I don't want to eat animals.
All related to this I recently stopped eating fried foods. It has been two weeks today since I had anything fried. I do not miss the fried food which is surprising to me. The hardest part of that is finding non-fried fast food. Not impossible, but requires more thought. In considering vegetarian, I cannot imaging looking forward to edamame the way I used to pine for a carton of large fries.
Another consideration is that I do not like pasta. So if you take out meat and pasta what is there?
I could go back to the start and eat mayonnaise and mustard sandwiches like I did when I was 7. I could eat potatoes. Bread. Cheese. Pickles.
I don't see eggplant or beets becoming a routine. I like spinach but worry about e-coli. I don't eat a lot of fruit because it has never made me feel very good.
I like fish and for some reason think it is included in being a vegetarian but it is clearly not.
I do like a few of the soy burgers and vegetarian sausage I've had before. The packaging makes it convenient.

I think this qualifies as consideration. I gave it some thought. There is nothing more to say on this topic at this time.

Hello TP,
You made your site simple yet elegant. I see that you have a wide variety of interests and observations here!
I like to write articles about Jehovah God on my site to help people to really get to know Him, especially in these troubled times. 44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. (Daniel 2:44) (NIV)
